After
attending the "Folkwang" university in Essen and Pierre Byland's
clown school, Armin Rohde began his career in the theatre in Bielefeld (from1984
to 1996) and Bochum (from 1986 to 1995). His successful stage career includes
roles as "Oedipus" by Sophocles/Hlderlin and "Mackie
Messer" in the "Dreigroschenoper".
Since 1993 Rohde has starred in numerous TV productions. He is well known for his
role as "Kaschinski" in the popular TV-series "Auf Achse"
(1995), as well as in Hermine Huntgeburths "Gefährliche Freundin"
(1996). He has also starred in Lars Beckers "Das gelbe vom Ei" (1998),
as the saviour of the world in "Apokalypso-Bombenstimmung in Berlin"
(1999) and has acted in several films by the cutting edge underground director
Manfred Stelzer.
He became famous for his role in "Kleine Haie" as the Sönke Wortmann's
"Bierchen" (1991) where his character became a cult figure. Armin
Rohde has been involved in almost all of Germany's film successes of recent
years. His turn as a gay butcher in "Der bewegte Mann" of Sönke
Wortmann (1994), as Harri in Wolfgang Beckers
"Das Leben ist eine Baustelle" (1996), and as a unfortunate plastic
surgeon in Helmut Dietls "Rossini" (1996) have displayed his
unlimited versatility.
Recently he played a guard with a heart condition in Tom Tykwer's internationally successful
film "Run Lola run" (1998). In the European coproduction TAKING
SIDES, Armin Rohde plays the role of Schlee.
